The weakness was disclosed 07/16/2014 with Oracle as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - July 2014 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at oracle.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-4207 since 06/17/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. A single authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 234423 (RHEL 7 : mariadb-galera (RHSA-2014:1940)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
