A vulnerability was found in Wireshark up to 1.12.0 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function SnifferDecompress of the component Sniffer Dissector. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. The weakness was published 09/16/2014 by Chaoqiang Zhang as wnpa-sec-2014-19 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at wireshark.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-6429 since 09/16/2014. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
