A vulnerability was found in libpng (Image Processing Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects the function png_read_IDAT_data of the file pngrutil.c. The manipulation of the argument width with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Buffer overflow in the png_read_IDAT_data function in pngrutil.c in libpng before 1.5.21 and 1.6.x before 1.6.16 allows context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code via IDAT data with a large width, a different vulnerability than CVE-2014-9495.

Upgrading to version 1.5.21 or 1.6.16 eliminates this vulnerability.
