The ELF parser in file 5.08 through 5.21 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via a large number of notes.

The weakness was presented 01/16/2015 by Alexander Cherepanov (Website). The advisory is available at mx.gw.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-9620 since 01/17/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
