A vulnerability was found in Cacti up to 0.8.8b (Log Management Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing in the library lib/graph_export.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-77. The product constructs all or part of a command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended command when it is sent to a downstream component. lib/graph_export.php in Cacti 0.8.7g, 0.8.8b, and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in unspecified vectors.
The weakness was published 04/23/2014 with CERT (Website). The advisory is shared for download at svn.cacti.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-2328 since 03/12/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
