Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Orchestration/Stack section in the Horizon Orchestration dashboard in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon) before 2013.2.4, 2014.1 before 2014.1.2, and Juno before Juno-2, when used with Heat, allows remote Orchestration template owners or catalogs to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted template.
The weakness was disclosed 10/31/2014 by Hewlett Packard with Hewlett Packard (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-3473 since 05/14/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 80637 (Oracle Solaris Third-Party Patch Update : horizon (multiple_cross_site_scripting_xss1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Solaris Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 167495 (OpenSuSE Security Update for openstack-dashboard (openSUSE-SU-2015:0078-1)).
Upgrading to version 2012.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
