Use-after-free vulnerability in the socket manager of Impress Remote in LibreOffice 4.x before 4.2.7 and 4.3.x before 4.3.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted request to TCP port 1599.

The weakness was published 11/07/2014 with SecuriTeam (Website). The advisory is available at ubuntu.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-3693 since 05/14/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

Upgrading to version 4.0.4.2 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 17041.
