A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird on Linux (Web Browser). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function AppendElements of the component Fluendo MP3 GStreamer Plugin. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. Impacted is availability.
The weakness was released 03/31/2015 by Aki Helin with Oulu University Secure Programming Group as MFSA 2015-31 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-0813 since 01/07/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
