A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel 2.4.0 on IA64 (Operating System) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the file psr.mfh of the component Switch-Code. Floating point information leak in the context switch code for Linux 2.4.x only checks the MFH bit but does not verify the FPH owner, which allows local users to read register values of other processes by setting the MFH bit.
The bug was discovered 05/28/2004. The weakness was disclosed 05/28/2004 by Arun Sharma as Bug 124734 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-0565 since 06/15/2004. The attack needs to be done within the local network. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
