A vulnerability was found in Lenovo System Update up to 5.6.0.27. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the component Download Folder Permission. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The weakness was released 04/14/2015 with IOActive as LEN-2015-011 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at ioactive.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-2234 since 03/06/2015. Attacking locally is a requirement. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation.
