Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in IBM DB2 9.7/9.8/10.1/10.5 (Database Software). Affected is some unknown functionality of the component Scalar Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
IBM DB2 9.7 through FP10, 9.8 through FP5, 10.1 before FP5, and 10.5 through FP5 on Linux, UNIX, and Windows allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) by leveraging an unspecified scalar function in a SQL statement.
The weakness was presented 07/14/2015 by Igor Kopylenko as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-304.ibm.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-0157 since 11/18/2014. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. A authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
