The weakness was published 07/23/2015 by Chamal De Silva (Cloudfuzzer) with Baidu X-Team as Stable Channel Update, July 2015 as confirmed release notes (Blog). The advisory is shared for download at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-1279 since 01/21/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 84992 (Debian DSA-3315-1 : chromium-browser - security update), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
