The weakness was published 09/16/2015 by Xiaofeng Zheng (beist) as HT205212 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-5885 since 08/06/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project. The advisory points out:

A cross-domain cookie issue existed in the handling of top level domains. The issue was addressed through improved restrictions of cookie creation.
