The weakness was presented 10/09/2015 by Maksymilian Arciemowicz with CXsecurity (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-5875 since 08/06/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

A public exploit has been developed in Python. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370192 (Apple Mac OS X v10.11 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2015-09-30-3)).

Upgrading to version 10.11 eliminates this vulnerability.
