A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in SAP NetWeaver 7.x (Solution Stack Software). This affects an unknown function of the component SMD Agent. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity.

The weakness was presented 02/21/2013 by Juan Perez-Etchegoyen with Onapsis as File 120516/SAP as confirmed advisory (Packetstorm). The advisory is shared at packetstormsecurity.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with SAP. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at service.sap.com. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
