A vulnerability was found in Google Chrome 25.0.1364.126 (Web Browser). It has been rated as very critical. This issue affects the function AudioBufferSourceNode::setBuffer of the file WebCore/Modules/webaudio/AudioBufferSourceNode.cpp of the component Audio Channel Handler. The Web Audio implementation in Google Chrome before 25.0.1364.152 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly have unspecified other impact via unknown vectors.
The weakness was presented 03/04/2013 by Atte Kettunen with Oulu University Secure Programming Group as 172926 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at code.google.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Google. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-0904 since 01/07/2013. The attack may be initiated remotely. The bugfix is ready for download at codereview.chromium.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability. It has been reported that this issue has been fixed in the development branch of WebKitGTK+.
