A vulnerability was found in ownCloud Server up to 8.0.5/8.1.0 (Cloud Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the file index.php/apps/files/ajax/scan.php. The manipulation of the argument dir with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. Directory traversal vulnerability in ownCloud Server before 8.0.6 and 8.1.x before 8.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to list directory contents and possibly cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via a .. (dot dot) in the dir parameter to index.php/apps/files/ajax/scan.php.
The weakness was presented 10/26/2015 (Website). The advisory is shared at syss.de. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-6500 since 08/17/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.

Upgrading to version 8.0.6 or 8.1.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
