A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Windows 7 SP1/7 SP1/Server 2008 R2 SP1/Server 2008 SP2/Vista SP2 (Operating System). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the component MAPI DLL Loader. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a untrusted search path vulnerability. Microsoft Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, and Windows 7 SP1 mishandle DLL loading, which allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted application, aka "MAPI DLL Loading Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability."
The weakness was shared 01/12/2016 with Zero Day Initiative as MS16-007 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at technet.microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-0020 since 12/04/2015. The attack needs to be approached locally. A single authentication is needed for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1574.
