The extension functionality in Google Chrome before 26.0.1410.43 does not verify that use of the permissions API is consistent with file permissions, which has unspecified impact and attack vectors.
The weakness was disclosed 03/26/2013 by Benjamin Kalman with Chromium development community as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is available at googlechromereleases.blogspot.ch. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-0924 since 01/07/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
