A vulnerability was found in Apple Mac OS X up to 10.11.3 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component OpenSSH. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The weakness was released 03/21/2016 with Qualys as HT206167 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-0778 since 12/16/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The advisory points out:
Roaming, which was on by default in the OpenSSH client, exposed an information leak and a buffer overflow. These issues were addressed by disabling roaming in the client.
