The xz_decomp function in xzlib.c in libxml2 2.9.1 does not properly detect compression errors, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (process hang) via crafted XML data.
The weakness was presented 03/21/2016 by Gustavo Grieco as HT206166 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-8035 since 11/02/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
