A vulnerability has been found in ThWboard (Forum Software) (version now known) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file do_editprofile.php. The manipulation of the argument userhomepage with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect integrity.
The bug was discovered 11/02/2003. The weakness was released 11/03/2003 by ThWboard Staff with ThWboard (Website). The advisory is shared for download at cvs.sourceforge.net. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
