Use-after-free vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 through 10 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted web site that triggers access to a deleted object, aka "Internet Explorer Use After Free Vulnerability," a different vulnerability than CVE-2013-1303 and CVE-2013-1338.
The weakness was presented 04/09/2013 by Ben Hawkes and Ivan Fratric with Google Security Team as MS13-028 as confirmed bulletin (Microsoft Technet). The advisory is available at technet.microsoft.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-1304 since 01/12/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 65875 (MS13-028: Security Update for Internet Explorer (2817183)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 100145 (Microsoft Internet Explorer Multiple Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities (MS13-028)).
Applying the patch MS13-028 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at support.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
