fs/pipe.c in the Linux kernel before 4.5 does not limit the amount of unread data in pipes, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) by creating many pipes with non-default sizes.
The weakness was disclosed 04/27/2016 by Tetsuo Handa (oss-sec). The advisory is available at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-2847 since 03/06/2016. Local access is required to approach this attack. The requirement for exploitation is a authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
