The PDF functionality in Google Chrome before 21.0.1180.57 on Mac OS X and Linux, and before 21.0.1180.60 on Windows and Chrome Frame, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via vectors that trigger out-of-bounds write operations.

The weakness was presented 07/31/2012 by Matthew Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind (Trev) with Google Security Team as not defined mailinglist post (Website). The advisory is shared for download at srware.net. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-2856 since 05/19/2012. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
