The PDF functionality in Google Chrome before 19.0.1084.46 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact by leveraging an out-of-bounds write error in the implementation of sampled functions.
The weakness was published 05/15/2012 by Brett Wilson (scarybea) with Chromium Development Community as 124182 as confirmed posting (Website). The advisory is shared at code.google.com. The public release has been coordinated with Google. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2011-3097 since 08/09/2011. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
