A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg 1.2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function wavpack_decode_block of the file libavcodec/wavpack.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. Impacted is availability.
The issue has been introduced in 05/10/2013. The weakness was released 05/22/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared for download at git.videolan.org. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
