A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg 1.2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function vmd_decode of the file libavcodec/vmdav.c of the component Decoding Handler. The impact remains unknown.
The issue has been introduced in 05/10/2013. The weakness was presented 05/28/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at git.videolan.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
