Firefox before 1.0 and Mozilla before 1.7.5 allows inactive (background) tabs to launch dialog boxes, which can allow remote attackers to spoof the dialog boxes from web sites in other windows and facilitate phishing attacks, aka the "Dialog Box Spoofing Vulnerability."

The weakness was disclosed 10/20/2004 by Jakob Balle with Secunia Research as RHSA-2005:323 (Website). The advisory is available at secunia.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-1380 since 01/25/2005. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
