A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in LibTIFF up to 4.0.6 (Image Processing Software). This affects an unknown code block of the component rgb2ycbcr. The rgb2ycbcr tool in LibTIFF 4.0.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero) by setting the (1) v or (2) h parameter to 0.
The weakness was disclosed 10/03/2016 by Security Team with Qihoo 360 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.maptools.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-3623 since 03/21/2016. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
