The libxenlight (libxl) toolstack library in Xen 4.0.x, 4.1.x, and 4.2.x uses weak permissions for xenstore keys for paravirtualised and emulated serial console devices, which allows local guest administrators to modify the xenstore value via unspecified vectors.

The weakness was shared 06/21/2013 as not defined mailinglist post (oss-sec). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-2211 since 02/19/2013. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
