A vulnerability was found in Zoho ManageEngine OpManager 12100/12200 (Network Management Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file /apiclient/ember/index.jsp of the component Packet Loss Graph. The manipulation with the input value /Inventory/Snapshot/MonitoringDevice/A&apos;)"%20onfocus=alert('XSS');%20autofocus%20x='/PerfGraph/packetLoss/packetLoss leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability (Reflected). Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Impacted is integrity.

The weakness was shared 11/20/2016 by Michael Heydon as Multiple issues in OpManager 12100 & 12200 as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

A public exploit has been developed by Michael Heydon and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 92 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:apiclient/ember/index.jsp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Upgrading to version 12200 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
