An issue was discovered in phpMyAdmin. With a crafted request parameter value it is possible to initiate a denial of service attack in saved searches feature. All 4.6.x versions (prior to 4.6.5), 4.4.x versions (prior to 4.4.15.9), and 4.0.x versions (prior to 4.0.10.18) are affected.
The bug was discovered 12/06/2016. The weakness was released 12/11/2016 by Emanuel Bronshtein (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-9858 since 12/06/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
