A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Adobe Flash Player up to 24.0.0.186 (Multimedia Player Software). Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component SWF Metadata Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Adobe Flash Player versions 24.0.0.186 and earlier have an exploitable memory corruption vulnerability related to the parsing of SWF metadata. Successful exploitation could lead to arbitrary code execution.

The bug was discovered 01/10/2017. The weakness was disclosed 01/10/2017 by Google Security Research with Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs as APSB17-02 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared for download at helpx.adobe.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-2931 since 12/02/2016. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
