A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in ImageMagick up to 7.0.2 (Image Processing Software). Affected is an unknown function of the component BMP Coder. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. Integer overflow in the BMP coder in ImageMagick before 7.0.2-10 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via crafted height and width values, which triggers an out-of-bounds write.
The bug was discovered 09/29/2016. The weakness was presented 01/18/2017 with Tencent (Website). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-6823 since 08/16/2016. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
