The bug was discovered 01/17/2017. The weakness was published 01/20/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-2578 since 12/01/2016. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
