A vulnerability was found in potrace 1.13. It has been classified as problematic. This affects the function findnext of the file decompose.c of the component BMP Image Handler. The findnext function in decompose.c in potrace 1.13 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (invalid memory access and crash) via a crafted BMP image.
The bug was discovered 01/31/2017. The weakness was presented 01/31/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo with Gentoo (Website). The advisory is shared at openwall.com.
