The bug was discovered 01/31/2017. The weakness was disclosed 01/31/2017 by Tim Coen (Paul) (Website). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-9407 since 11/17/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. A single authentication is needed for exploitation.
