A vulnerability was found in MyBB and MyBB Merge System up to 1.8.6 (Content Management System). It has been rated as problematic. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Mod control panel in MyBB (aka MyBulletinBoard) before 1.8.7 and MyBB Merge System before 1.8.7 might allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via vectors involving editing users.
The bug was discovered 01/31/2017. The weakness was presented 01/31/2017 by Tim Coen (Paul) (Website). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-9408 since 11/17/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
