A vulnerability was found in Jasper up to 1.900.3 (Programming Tool Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function jpc_dec_process_siz of the file libjasper/jpc/jpc_dec.c of the component imginfo. The jpc_dec_process_siz function in libjasper/jpc/jpc_dec.c in JasPer before 1.900.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and application crash) via a crafted YRsiz value in a BMP image to the imginfo command.
The bug was discovered 02/15/2017. The weakness was shared 02/15/2017 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-8692 since 10/15/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
