The hashbin_delete function in net/irda/irqueue.c in the Linux kernel before 4.9.13 improperly manages lock dropping, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (deadlock) via crafted operations on IrDA devices.
The bug was discovered 02/28/2017. The weakness was presented 03/01/2017 by Salvatore Bonaccorso (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-6348 since 02/26/2017. The attack needs to be approached locally. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication.
