In Wireshark 2.2.0 to 2.2.4 and 2.0.0 to 2.0.10, there is a WSP infinite loop, triggered by packet injection or a malformed capture file. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-wsp.c by validating the capability length.
The bug was discovered 03/03/2017. The weakness was disclosed 03/04/2017 as Bug 13348 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-6471 since 03/03/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
