epan/dissectors/packet-dcom-sysact.c in the DCOM ISystemActivator dissector in Wireshark 1.10.x before 1.10.1 does not properly validate certain index values, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (assertion failure and application exit) via a crafted packet.
The weakness was published 07/26/2013 by Laurent Butti (Oliver) as wnpa-sec-2013-44 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at wireshark.org. The public release has been coordinated with the project team. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-4924 since 07/26/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
