A vulnerability was found in Wireshark up to 1.10.0 (Packet Analyzer Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects the function get_type_length of the file epan/dissectors/packet-btsdp.c of the component Bluetooth SDP Dissector. Integer signedness error in the get_type_length function in epan/dissectors/packet-btsdp.c in the Bluetooth SDP dissector in Wireshark 1.8.x before 1.8.9 and 1.10.x before 1.10.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (loop and CPU consumption) via a crafted packet.
The weakness was shared 07/26/2013 by Laurent Butti (Oliver) as wnpa-sec-2013-45 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at wireshark.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-4927 since 07/26/2013. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
