A vulnerability was found in D-Link DIR-645 up to Firmware 1.03b08 (Router Operating System). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown part of the file info.php. The manipulation of the argument RESULT with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-79. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. The bug was discovered 03/06/2013. The weakness was published 08/02/2013 by Roberto Paleari as 20130801-dlink-dir645 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at roberto.greyhats.it. The public release has been coordinated with D-Link. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-7389 since 07/07/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed by Roberto Paleari and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 149 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. By approaching the search of inurl:info.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version Firmware 1.04 eliminates this vulnerability.
