CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6.1.0 (Application Server Software). This affects an unknown part of the component Remote EJB Invocation Connection Cache Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a config vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-16. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6.1.0 does not properly cache EJB invocations by the EJB client API, which allows remote attackers to hijack sessions by using an EJB client.

The weakness was disclosed 08/12/2013 by Wolf-Dieter Fink with Red Hat GSS Team as RHSA-2013:1151-1 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at rhn.redhat.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Red Hat. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-4213 since 06/12/2013. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592.004 for this issue. The advisory points out:

After a user has successfully logged in, a remote attacker could use an EJB client to log in as that user without knowing their password, allowing them to access data and perform actions with the privileges of that user.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 69315 (RHEL 5 / 6 : JBoss EAP (RHSA-2013:1151)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Red Hat Local Security Checks.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. The advisory contains the following remark:

Before applying this update, back up your existing Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform installation and deployed applications.
