In Wireshark 2.2.0 to 2.2.5 and 2.0.0 to 2.0.11, the BGP dissector could go into an infinite loop, triggered by packet injection or a malformed capture file. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-bgp.c by using a different integer data type.
The bug was discovered 04/12/2017. The weakness was disclosed 04/12/2017 as Bug 13557 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-7701 since 04/11/2017. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
