A vulnerability has been found in Google Chrome 30.0.1599.101 (Web Browser) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function QuickGetNext of the file net/http/http_stream_parser.cc of the component HTTP 1xx Parsing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. net/http/http_stream_parser.cc in Google Chrome before 31.0.1650.48 does not properly process HTTP Informational (aka 1xx) status codes, which allows remote web servers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a crafted response.

The bug was discovered 11/12/2013. The weakness was disclosed 11/12/2013 by Berend-Jan Wever (SkyLined) as 299892 (Website). The advisory is available at code.google.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-6627 since 11/05/2013. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.

It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $100k and more. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks and running in the context l. Upgrading to version 31.0.1650.48 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
