A vulnerability has been found in Google Chrome 30.0.1599.101 (Web Browser) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function QuickGetNext
of the file net/http/http_stream_parser.cc of the component HTTP 1xx Parsing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. net/http/http_stream_parser.cc in Google Chrome before 31.0.1650.48 does not properly process HTTP Informational (aka 1xx) status codes, which allows remote web servers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a crafted response.
The bug was discovered 11/12/2013. The weakness was disclosed 11/12/2013 by Berend-Jan Wever (SkyLined) as 299892 (Website). The advisory is available at code.google.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-6627 since 11/05/2013. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
