SQL injection vulnerability in the Upgrade/Downgrade component (DBMS_UPGRADE_INTERNAL) for Oracle Database 10.1.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL commands via unknown vectors, aka DB07. NOTE: as of 20070424, Oracle has not disputed reliable claims that DB07 is actually for multiple issues.
The weakness was shared 04/18/2007 by Esteban Martinez Fayo (Paul) with Application Security, Inc. (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-2113 since 04/18/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 56056 (Oracle Database Multiple Vulnerabilities (April 2007 CPU)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Databases. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19216 (Oracle April 2007 Security Update Multiple Vulnerabilities).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 5365.
