Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Horde Kronolith Calendar Application H4 before 3.0.17, as used in Horde Groupware Webmail Edition before 4.0.8, allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) tasks view or (2) search view.

The weakness was published 05/29/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-5566 since 10/24/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 74830 (openSUSE Security Update : horde4-kronolith (openSUSE-SU-2012:1625-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks.

Upgrading to version 4.0.8 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
